PRISONS OF IOWA WE GO TO

These are the current prisons that we go into. God's child lives there, our Brothers and Sisters live there and we want them to know the love of Christ Jesus. No matter what they have done, no matter where they are in their walk with Christ, Jesus loves them, He died for them and wants them to live with Him in His Kingdom forever.

Roger

Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility

This facility for men is the main treatment center for drug and sex related offenses. It is located at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa which is in the South Eastern part of the state. The population is approximately 989.

We have the honor to go to this prison to conduct monthly worship services every third and fifth Wednesday. Mary Lee and Roger share giving the messages in an alternating style. Roger giving the perspective of God's Word in living in a prison life, then Mary Lee gives the perspective of living it on the outside. On the first and third Wednesdays each month we travel the 220 mile round trip to share the love of Christ to the inmates. The average attendance is 65 faithful men at each service. Those who attend always say they have been blessed, our only response back to them is that we have been blessed more than they could realize. The men are extremely eager to hear God's word and how it applies to them, in their circumstance behind the fences and future family life. Roger was once an inmate just like them setting in the same chapel for two years. Roger knows the hurts and struggles that they face and Mary Lee and Roger prepares the message geared towards these issues.

Mary Lee, although never imprisoned behind metal fences, shares her hurts and struggles she faced when she lived in her own personal prison of hate, fear and unforgiveness. The men relate to her messages as they themselves are shackled in two prisons, their own personal prison of hate, fear, unforgiveness, isolation and the physical concrete cell they live in.

MITCHELLVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

This is the major housing facility for the woman in Iowa. There are approximately 563 women at Mitchellville, which is located about 20 miles North of Des Moines, Iowa. The 235 mile trip is totally rewarding just to share the passion these women have for the Lord. It is overwhelming that with each visit we see new faces and hearts that have been surrendered to the Lord Christ Jesus. Not long ago a new chapel was built for their worship services called The Sacred Place. Many of the ladies have shared with us that the Voice of Freedom newsletter has changed their lives and give it to their roommates.

MARY LEE

Life for these ladies here is very hard on them, so please kept these women in your prayers that they may continue to build their foundation upon the Lord Jesus Christ and that they may soon be restored to their family and children.

NORTH CENTRAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

BILL

This prison is a minimum security facility which houses approximately 500 men. Located in Rockwell City, Iowa, this prison normally serves as the last stop for many men before they are released back into society. Lifers and long term men also reside here after they have earned the right to be housed there by their good behavior. The Christian church at NCCF is extremely strong and helps provide additional Spiritual growth to build their solid foundation upon Christ Jesus. With a solid foundation they will be able to stand against the trials they will surely face on the outside.

Heart Surrender has given the message to the Sunday Morning Worship service which is held in the gym. An average of 80 to 90 men attend each service. This service continues to grow by the power and glory of Christ Jesus. Please keep this fine men in your prayers that as they are being released they will continue their close walk with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
